I've maintained a small group of friends from all over the world that I can count
on to help me in testing new software, systems and theories related to online promotion and SEO specifically. I sent the below email to that group about 30 days ago:
>I have another post up and I would really appreciate your comments!! Of course I'd like you to comment on all of them but the one I just posted is here:
http://bob.blikini.com/Social-Media-Outsourcing-Maybe-You-Just-Need-a-Platform
Thanks!!! Bob Massa <
Then on the 15th I sent this email.
Yesterday I told you of a post I had just put up and asked you to comment. The title of the post was
social media outsourcing - maybe you just need a platform.
My target client was outsource.techndu.com and I wanted to get on the first page for social media outsourcing where we were not in the top 100.
There are a total of 9 people on my list that I notify of my posts and two of them commented in Blikini itself. One person commented in the Facebook post Blikini created when I made a comment on the post. This gave me a total of about 25 social media links because there are a total of 12 platforms within Blikini that the software automatically creates a post for.
Each comment you make creates a post that goes to YOUR Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Stumbleupon, Digg, Flcikr, Yahoo groups, Google + etc. account with 1 link back to your comment and one link to the client's target site. The idea is that you can use a sig tag with a link in your comment (Blikini now has a PR2), and when it gets sent to YOUR network it is so your friends and followers can see your comment and engage with you at Blikini. It builds your network and Blikini's at the same time plus gives you a solid backlink every time
Well, within 12 hours, outsource.techndu.com went from nowhere in the top 100 to #21 with just those three comments.
Now today and tomorrow we will focus on getting a few more comments from other people who have an interest in SEO and social media PLUS we'll create a video and start promoting that.
And in the next ten days we should move at least another 10 spots. Maybe first page.
Nowhere to #21 for a competitive keyword in just 12 hours is enough to impress most clients, let alone hitting the first page !
So, for those of you who did not post yesterday please consider posting today and I'll share what impact that had. PLUS Id like your opinion on the money making opportunity on the members page

Thanks folks

Well yesterday was the 13th of Dec and it had been a little less than 30 days since the post went live. I was able to send the below email to the same people yesterday:
Hi I've got good news for good friends!
Today is December 13th and on google.com outsource.techndu is #8.
So not in the top 100 to #21 in 12 hours! Then I said 10 days to move 10 spots and it was actually more like 15 but around the 1st of Dec. it went to #13 then to #11 and now today #8.
Obviously either I know what I'm talking about it or I got REALLY lucky! Now I'm saying it will be top 5 within the next 30 days and top 3 within the next 45 days!! It will all depend on how many links we build or how many comments we get from who and how fast.
We had a total of 5 comments the first week and then we started doing the traditional stuff and then promoted it in social media and got a few more comments. The traditional linking alone would NOT have got it to move this fast. I've been saying all along that in today's search environment, Google is putting a lot of weight on social comments. Many of our long tail terms will hit top 3 within 48 hours with only one or two comments and NOTHING else.
Like our Blikini post for
Social media outsourcing in Dallas
it is STILL #1 after some 3 months AND our target site is at #4!
And SMO success secrets. It too is #1 and we did NO traditional link building whatsoever!
Again, I'm sharing this with you because I'm wanting you to see the change in Google's algo and the power of a platform like Blikini. Combining social media with traditional SEO and targeting the right people for comments is the key to achiving top placement FAST!
Thank you for your help and support
Bob
PS
check your own rankings for the anchor text you used in your sig tag when you made your comment. If you did it right, you should see improvement in your own ranking too! It doesn't get much easier than that!
Dear readers. I told you a couple of months ago I would use this blog to document some of our targets and techniques to help you better understand the changes in SEO the entire industry is seeing. I know for many it freaks them out that doing what they've always done isn't getting the same results, but the harsh reality is social media is having a real impact on the SEO landscape and we are all free to deal with it by ignoring it, refusing to admit it, and die. OR accept it, embrace it and realize the game has changed but like always, we don't make the rules, we just play the game and the game is still VERY winnable! Maybe even easier!

Everyone I know in the SEO industry agrees that seo is getting harder. I disagree. Its actually getting easier than it was 2 years ago. IF YOU CAN EMBRACE SOCIAL MEDIA ! Reading the Filter Bubble helped me as much as any other one thing BUT once I understood WHY everything we do online, (or everything anyone else does to us), is being tracked, cached, indexed and used, I could understand how traditional seo without using Social Media IS going to seem more difficult but using it opens a LOT of doors! I give real life examples in this post of exactly why we did it, how we did it, what happened because we did it and how long it took to happen. Social media DOES help SEO ! massa
One can extend the value of their investment by doing social media promotion. Social media helps your overall campaign, like it increases revenue directly, make branding and provide targeted traffic for your website. This traffic further helps in keywords ranking. Outsourcing social media can make all these easy if you choose the right company.
There is no doubt that social media helps SEO a lot. As we all know that there are hundreds of factors involve in assigning rank to a page in search engines, so on which factor social media helps a website in ranking? I think social media helps websites in following 3 factors:
1-Getting quality links:
Social media provides quality links. Some may say that these links are nofollow and have less SEO value for them I’ll say that don’t forget profile links which have strong SEO value like in twitter profile. You can have a lot of clicks from there and which directly affects your ranking.
2-Reputation management or Branding: Social media promotion strongly helps in reputation or branding. You can see that almost every brand have a Facebook page these days. By applying proven marketing methods one can establish a great brand with the help of Facebook and Twitter only.
3-Ranking pages of Social media websites: Social media websites like Facebook and twitter have greater authority than any other websites on internet. You certainly have seen that sometimes Face book business page comes up in the SERPS for a keyword search instead of websites. So it’s better and easy to rank on social media pages than on traditional website.
Finally I just want to say that social media is the future of SEO and Internet marketing.
I am quite agree that social media helps SEO a lot. SEO is based on three pillars these days: popularity, relevance and authority. And social media is the key to achieve all these at a time. It’s a great case study here, thanks for sharing this with us.
I am totally agree that Social Media Impacts SEO. Links that we shared through Twitter and Facebook have a direct impact on rankings. Very simple example: if my article re-tweeted or referenced a lot on Twitter and Facebook then Google will take it as a sign of popularity and will give better rank. Now this article higher in organic and news search.
