Let me ask a question.
If you knew I was privy to information about where you were placed in Google for what term and what techniques you used to beat your competitors to get that placement AND some person called me and I started showing them the placement and describing how you got there.
How would you feel?
Well if it were me and my site, I'd feel like dropping you as a service provider and never trusting you with private company data again! I've long assumed most of my clients feel the same way.
I've had a very strong policy of NOT disclosing my clients, their placements or the techniques I used to get those placements to ANYBODY without the explicit permission of my client.
I deal almost exclusively with VERY competitive keywords and industries. My clients have invested a LOT of $ to be able to secure top spots and the last thing they want is one of the people on their payroll telling strangers about what they have and how they got it. This has resulted in my clients completely trusting me with their online marketing strategies NOT to disclose proprietary information and that is how it should be.
BUT I buy things online and like most user of the web as a way to purchase goods and services more than once, I've been robbed, cheated, ripped off and swindled. I know how hard it is to trust someone and how wanting to see results is important. So it's common that potential new customers want to see results.
I have some clients that I've worked with long enough that understand the motivation as well as I do and they have given me permission to use them AND SOME OF THEIR PLACEMENTS as examples. One such client is David Russell of Seocompanydallas.blikini.com. He is also one of our oldest wholesale accounts as he is primarily a designer and outsources most of his seo work to me.
He is one of our first clients to use Blikini as well and has allowed me to use the project as examples of what social media seo can do.
So I am going to share some of the results of our first 30 days working on his website.
The objective was to show proof of concept and help him establish a social media management outsourcing service in Dallas.
{Using a proxy service showing an IP in NYC, and searching from Bangalore he is #17 after the first 5 days of starting his blog.}
Also, the client's own domain is well established site that we provided optimized content for a social media services page and then linked the blog to that and it is #1 from nowhere for many of those type of keywords. THAT IS HOW IT IS SUPPOSED TO WORK!

And the Blikini blog is #20. No one has done anything to promote the blog or post except this article being published and commented on. I'll instruct the team to do it's thing and check back next week and I'll think you'll see those placements improve. This is a great case study on social media SEO!
In fact, it's the ONLY actual exercise being published as it happens on the planet. I think that is pretty cool!

I have noticed that people talks more about social media SEO nowadays, but never sure that it can deliver that much better result. Now after reading your post I am quite confidence about this buzz. Hope more great articles from you Bob.
