I was starting to think it couldn't get any easier and then I saw this today:
"Subscribe" Option So Strangers Can Get Your Status Updates
Facebook is rolling out a new feature called, "subscribe," which is a lot like Twitter's "follow" functionality.
With subscribe you can get status updates from someone that you're not friends with on Facebook, as long as they allow it.
One of the great things about Twitter is that (for the most part) you can follow celebrities, journalists, or industry figures without having their permission. You get to see what they're up to, what they're reading, and so on.
With Facebook you couldn't get that. Now you can.

Well, well, well! In case the organic search engine placement benefit hasn't jumped out at you yet, the easier it is for more people to see what you say, the more likely it is some of them will link to you, click on you or shove money into your PayPal hole !
All of those actions help boost relevancy which helps boost organic placements.
Remember, it is all about getting like-minded humans to INTERACT with your content. The second biggest hurdle to that interaction is the number of hoops the like-minded human has o jump through to interact.
If I have to go to a site from a search to read what you wrote BUT first I have to go to register page, put in my name, address, age, sex (if any), website URL, Email, alternate Email, list blogs I read, sign up to have my information shared with an ever growing number of self serving, for profit, companies and then read 1672 paragraphs of tiny TOS type, then figure out the weirdest excuse for a word being used as a captcha, WHEW, I really don’t give much of a damn WHAT you wrote. I need a nap!
BUT when I click and your pearls of wisdom automatically get cast before this swine NOW I don't mind interacting.
Bravo Facebook for showing that the more you give the more you get! Making it easier is a good thing for Social Media SEO~!
